I have developed this site as a resource for individuals who are ready to initiate proactive change and wellness. We encounter times in our lives when we become aware of our need for a different experience; but find it difficult to take steps toward the unknown. It can be challenging to take a new path; especially since we rarely like change. There is comfort in the expected regardless of how uncomfortable the expected is to our daily functioning. This aversion to change keeps us from improving ourselves. It hinders us from making the progress we need in order to attain the lives we deserve. This aversion, or perhaps fear, hinders us from connecting to the greatness within each of us.
If you are ready to not only explore - but design a change in your life, then I am interested in joining you on that journey. I welcome the opportunity to provide tools and resources that compliment your needs. The integrity of my practice relies on providing a safe and confidential atmosphere for the work you wish to accomplish. Mutual respect for one another and the treatment process is also prioritized and enhances the productivity of the therapy experience. Hopefully you will find the information on this site useful in deciding how to best initiate change in your life and enhance your overall wellness.
Individual psychotherapy is a collaborative experience between clinician and client. Although many people may feel that the therapist is the expert who provides all of the answers to life's problems; I approach the therapeutic relationship in a manner that considers the client as the expert of their life. Therefore, the therapist works WITH the client to sort through life's presenting issues and alleviate psychological distress.
Couples therapy is based on the premise that individuals and their problems are best handled in the context of the couples relationship. Typically, both partners attend counseling together. Couples counseling is designed to help those in relationships deal appropriately with their immediate problems and develop a better way of relating to one another. It is a very useful modality for couples experiencing difficulties such as repetitive arguments, feelings of distance and emptiness in the relationship, pervasive feelings of anger, resentment or dissatisfaction, lack of interest in affection or in a physical relationship with one another.
Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. Family therapy can include family members or just those able or willing to participate.
Family therapy can help to improve relationships with romantic partners, children or other family members. Family therapy can be particularly impactful when working with adolescents. It is important for families engaging family therapy to understand that everyone will likely have to make changes in order to make the process successful.
I am available for consultation, presentations and workshop facilitation. Workshops are a
great way for providing groups and organizations with information and skills that make for a more cohesive and productive environment. Presentations have included topics on, but not limited to, effective communication, increasing productivity, procrastination and anger management. Group activities geared toward working with adolescents are also very popular and include topics such as social media and self-esteem; bullying, and coping with parental difficulties.
